During servicing and repair of Electric/ Hybrid vehicles there is a requirement to check the insulation resistance of high voltage cables and connectors in respect to the chassis ground including between the centre Protective Earth pin, Phase and Neutral pins of a Type 2 inlet connector. This ensures that the high voltage presents no danger to a vehicle user from voltage and current leakage to the chassis.
If you have ever tried to conduct these insulation tests on Electric or Hybrid vehicles or charging cables using probes or crocodile clips that don't fit or slip and struggle to stay on on contacts you will know how difficult and potentially unsafe this is.
To solve this issue Electro-PJP have designed a specific Insulation Test lead with a 6mm connection for Type 2 charge port connectors (also part of a CCS connector), that are found on all Electric and Hybrid vehicles. They have also designed an 8mm Connection for the DC+ and DC- pins of the CCS Connector.
The EVF6 test lead is designed to connect to the following pins:
